Odeon Eau de Parfum 30ml

Named for the Left Bank district of bookshops, theatres and the Seine, Odéon is rose done in a very particular way. Not fresh rose, not powdery rose — rose thickened into something candied and liqueur-like, the way a rose might smell if it had been steeped in dark fruit rather than cut and displayed. Turkish Isparta rose absolute at the opening: rich, enveloping, with a fruity quality that tilts immediately toward jam rather than garden. Indonesian patchouli and cashmeran soften and ground it in the heart; sandalwood adds warmth. The base — tonka bean absolute, dry amber, musks — is what makes this a cold-weather fragrance rather than a year-round one. The composition is by Aliénor Massenet. Projection varies significantly on different skins, which is worth knowing before committing to a 75ml. The 30ml is the right place to start.
