AFTERCARE
We looked after you in store. Here's how you look after our work
Some of our services need a short window of care after you've left the Studio, either the rest of the day, a full 24 or 48 hours. None of it is complicated, and skipping it is the easiest way to undo what we just did or shorten how long it lasts.
Find the aftercare instructions for your treatment below.
Lash Lift
For the first 24 hours, this is the one that matters
- Don't get water near your eyes. Avoid your eye area when you're washing your face, avoid steam and saunas.
- Try to avoid crying as tears count as wetting the eye area.
- Avoid mascara, eye makeup, and lash serums.
- Sleep on your back if you can. Pressure on the lashes while they're setting can flatten the curl.
After 24 hours
- Water and makeup are fine again, but skip waterproof mascara. It's harder to remove and too much rubbing can move the lashes out of shape.
- Brush your lashes upward each morning with a clean spoolie.
- Avoid oil-based makeup removers for the life of the lift, six to eight weeks. Oil will break down the lash lift.
- Use the Yumi Keratin Restore Mascara to maintain the health of your lashes.
Lash lifts typically last six to eight weeks, following your natural lash growth cycle.
Brow Lamination
For the first 24 hours
- Don't get your brows wet. Avoid the area when washing your face, avoid steam, saunas and swimming.
- Avoid brow makeup, pencil, gel, powder or tint touch-ups, while the product is still setting.
- Sleep on your back if possible as sleeping on your side can move the brow hairs while they're setting.
- Try not to touch your brows.
After 24 hours
- Brush brows upward daily with a clean spoolie. This is the one habit that keeps lamination looking fresh instead of flat.
- Skip oil-based cleansers and heavy face oils on the brow area.
- Hold off on brow waxing or tinting elsewhere for at least a week if you want the result to hold.
Brow lamination typically lasts six to eight weeks.
Brow Tint + Lash Tint
For the first 24 hours
- Avoid wetting the area. That includes properly washing your face, so cleanse around it instead.
- Avoid steam, saunas, swimming and hot showers.
- Skip makeup, cleansing balm or oil-based products near the brows and lashes. Oil lifts tint faster than anything else.
- Try to avoid tears. Crying can fade out tints.
After 24 hours
- Back to normal, but pat your eyes and brows dry (rather than rub), and use an oil-free cleanser around the eye area if you want the tint colour to last.
- Using SPF on the face helps stop the tint bleaching out early, especially on brows.
Tint will typically hold for two to four weeks (ideally we'll get you to the four week mark) and fades faster with sun, oil and frequent cleansing near the area.
Brow Tweeze
- Skip makeup directly on the brow area for a few hours. Let the skin settle first.
- Avoid saunas or direct sun on the area. Freshly tweezed skin can be more reactive to extreme temperatures.
- Avoid exfoliants, Vitamin A and acids on the brow area on the day of your tweeze.
Any redness should settle within an hour or two. If it's still irritated tomorrow, or you notice any breakouts, let us know.
Facials
For the rest of today
- Skip makeup if you can manage it. If you can't, keep it light.
- Don't use any active skincare, that means vitamin A, vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs and exfoliants. Your skin's already had its workout for the day.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms or anything that gets you sweating hard.
- Wear SPF outside, even under Wellington cloud. Your skin will be more reactive to sun than usual right now.
For the next 24 to 48 hours
- Keep it simple. Cleanse, hydrate, SPF. Nothing else.
- Skip the swim, the hot bath and the long hot shower.
- Some redness or tightness is normal and should settle within a few hours. If it hasn't calmed by the next day, get in touch.
From 48 hours on, your usual routine, actives included, is back on.
LED Light Lounge
- Wear SPF for the rest of the day. LED can make skin more light-reactive.
- Skip vitamin A or exfoliating acids for 24 hours if that's part of your evening routine.
- Everything else, makeup, skincare, your normal day, carries on as usual.
Makeup Application
Tonight
Take your makeup off before bed:
- Use an oil-based cleanser or micellar water first to break down the base and eye makeup, then follow with your normal cleanser.
- Wearing false lashes? Don't pull them off. Work a cleansing balm along the lash line and let them lift away on their own. Pulling takes your natural lashes with them.
If your skin reacts to anything we used, get in touch and we'll tell you exactly what was on your face.
