Violet is one of the trickiest materials in perfumery. Douglas Little gets the balance exactly right: powdery and cool at the heart with jasmine sambac and frankincense opening it, then patchouli, cypriol and labdanum grounding it in something darker. Available in 15ml and 50ml.

HOW TO USE

Apply to pulse points. Develops significantly — the patchouli and labdanum base deepens over the day. Layers well with Scandalwood for a rose-violet pairing.

Violet leaf and Turkish rose oil at the heart create something powdery and cool, almost metallic in its clarity. Jasmine sambac and frankincense open it from a more sensual angle; patchouli, cypriol, labdanum and ambrette take the base somewhere darker and more complex. The result sits in a frequency that is difficult to name: not floral, not woody, not musky, but recognisably all three at different moments. One of the more adventurous scents in the range, and often the one people come back to after working through the rest.
